The threat

Monitors are trusted. They shouldn't be.

Display cables carry a hidden bidirectional control channel. Standard security tooling has never monitored it, and operating systems implicitly trust it. A route for threat actors to introduce malware or exfiltrate data, hidden in plain sight.

Existing mitigations are expensive and inflexible: multiple monitors per security domain, rigid working arrangements, or outright risk tolerance. None address the root cause. The interface itself is uncontrolled.

How it works

Hardware enforcement at the display interface.

Interpose.

Sits inline on the control channel between computer and monitor, before anything reaches software.

Validate.

Every control-channel message is measured against a defined, validated set.

Enforce.

Anything outside the set is silently dropped. The interface becomes a security boundary.

Plug-and-play. Low-power. No software installation, no updates, no ongoing service.

Origin

Developed by NCSC. Released for the private sector.

The first publicly attributed NCSC exploitation licence for global sales.

The intellectual property behind SilentGlass™ was developed by NCSC and originally assessed for use in the most high-threat environments. After several years of deployment on UK government estates, it is now available commercially.

Goldilock Labs holds the exploitation licence. This is the first publicly attributed exploitation licence NCSC has granted for global sales, and SilentGlass™ is the first commercially available product licensed to carry NCSC branding. Manufactured and distributed in partnership with Sony UK.
